Lesson 1: Introduction and Program Outline

Welcome to our Professional Minute Taking e-learning program. We very grateful that you’ve chosen to learn with us and look forward to supporting you throughout your learning journey.

This program addresses what we believe are the key elements that can help you become world-class in taking notes during a meeting and then transforming those notes into professional minutes.

Given the ongoing disruption we’re experiencing across the world at the moment, we have adapted this program to cover the traditional ‘in person’ meetings as well as the more prevalent ‘virtual’ meetings that many organisations have adopted. For this program, virtual meetings include any combination of videoconferencing (eg. Zoom, Teams, WebEx, Slack), teleconference and in person meetings.

  • explain key meeting roles and responsibilities
  • understand preparatory and follow¬≠-up ‘secretariat’ responsibilities
  • use active and interpretive listening in meetings
  • develop techniques for recording information faster
